Obituary

Rosemary Gussis, 75, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away on October 3, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, kindness, compassion, and cherished memories.

Born on December 11, 1950, in South Amboy, New Jersey, Rosemary was the daughter of Charles and Mary Dombroski. Throughout her life, she was known for her gentle nature, her genuine desire to please others, and her extraordinary capacity for kindness. She had a way of making those around her feel cared for, often placing the happiness and well-being of others ahead of her own.

Rosemary's love story with her husband, Michael, began in 1973 through a rather special introduction. Rosemary and Michael's mother worked at the same hospital, where Rosemary regularly delivered a weekly report. Michael's mother kept a photograph of her son on her desk and repeatedly encouraged Rosemary to meet him. What began with a mother's matchmaking became a beautiful partnership that would span more than five decades.

Rosemary and Michael were married on July 31, 1976, in Fords, New Jersey. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and unwavering support for one another.

As a devoted wife and mother, Rosemary took tremendous pride in raising their three children. During their early years together, she managed the demands of raising a young family while supporting three relocations associated with Michael's career. Through each move and new beginning, Rosemary provided the love, stability, and encouragement that made their family life possible.

She was deeply involved in her children's lives, particularly enjoying their sporting events. Whether cheering from the sidelines, attending games, or simply being present for the important moments, Rosemary found tremendous happiness in supporting her children. Her family was always at the center of her world.

Rosemary also possessed a remarkable willingness to learn and adapt. When Michael established his consulting business, she stepped forward to help, despite having virtually no experience with computers. With determination and patience, she became highly proficient and an invaluable part of the business. It was another example of her quiet strength and her willingness to embrace new challenges for the benefit of those she loved.

Perhaps nothing demonstrated Rosemary's character more clearly than the compassion she extended to family members during difficult times. She lovingly cared for her father through the final chapter of his life, including his passing in their family home. Following the death of Michael's mother, Rosemary regularly visited his grieving stepfather, offering companionship, understanding, and emotional support. These were not grand gestures seeking recognition, but simple, meaningful acts of love that reflected who Rosemary truly was.

In quieter moments, Rosemary enjoyed sewing and needlepoint, activities that reflected her patience, creativity, and attention to detail. She found satisfaction in making things with her hands and took pleasure in the simple joys of home and family.

As her family grew, Rosemary embraced the special joy of being a grandmother. Her six grandchildren brought another wonderful dimension to her life and became an important part of the family she treasured so deeply.

Rosemary is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Michael Gussis; her children, Brian Gussis, Glenn and Sarah Gussis, and Staci and Michael Anzola; and her beloved grandchildren, Lylah, Chloe, Scarlett, Dario, Leonardo, and Sebastian. She is also survived by her brothers, Charles and Raymond Dombroski, and her sister, Marie Bitnec.

Those who knew Rosemary will remember her kindness, her compassion, and her sincere desire to make life better for the people around her. She was happiest when those she loved were happy. Her strength was often quiet, her generosity instinctive, and her devotion to family unwavering.

Although her presence will be deeply missed, Rosemary's legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched. She leaves behind more than memories. She leaves an example of what it means to love unselfishly, care deeply, and remain devoted to those who matter most.
