Hugh Ray Fawcett, 83, of West Long Branch, passed away on Thursday, surrounded by his loving family.
Hugh was born in Newark and raised in Nutley and later Middletown. He attended Middletown South High School, and following graduation, proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he honorably served his country for four years. After his military service, Hugh continued his education at Teterboro School of Aeronautics and Brookdale Community College.
Hugh went on to open Amoco in Ocean Township, a business he owned and operated for many years before eventually selling it and beginning his second career with NJ TRANSIT.
In January 1977, Hugh married the love of his life, Geraldine. Together, they began their life in Elberon before settling in West Long Branch, where they raised their family and built a lifetime of memories.
Hugh had a love for trains, enjoyed traveling to Letchworth State Park in New York, and especially cherished coaching his children’s sports teams. Above all, he treasured his family and the time spent making memories with those he loved.
Hugh was predeceased by his sister, Susan Stocker.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Geraldine; his children, Kristin Fawcett, Tim Fawcett and his wife, Kristi, and Thomas Fawcett; and his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Wilson, Antonia Gonzalez, Savannah and Olivia Fawcett.
At the request of the family, all services will be private.
